We pay tribute to one of the legends of the New York art scene: Leonard McGurr, aka Futura. Her ever-evolving creative vision has influenced media, genders and minds of all kinds and is ready to make its mark on the world of shoes. Futura is one of the pioneers of graffiti: yet, with this work, the artist rejects labels and conventions, without betraying his iconic style. On the subway cars, in prestigious art galleries and even in museums, Futura's creations reinterpret the concept of space through colors, characters and typography.
Futura Laboratories, a commercial brand and design studio, has joined forces with Nike's skateboarding division to give life to this special edition Dunk Low, which marks the return to its origins regarding the collab between the Swoosh and the artists, with elements of Futura's paintings to embellish a classic Dunk look. The faded canvas serves as a backdrop to this design, which boasts colorful outer layers, embossed details, custom artistic graphics on the tab label and inner sole, as well as a semi-transparent sole that reveals Futura's iconic signature. Contrast stitching and laces in two coordinated shades complete the design of this Futura Laboratories shoe, which sports the structure of the original Dunk Low to recall its long-standing collaboration with Nike SB.
